Mill Valley 12/12/22-12/17/22
Returning to a place where you've spent the majority of your life can induce some out of body feelings. The nostalgia I get whenever I'm back in Marin County is unmatched. The air, the smells, and pretentious individuals here, all give off a certain feeling. It hasn't always been the same place it is today, but things like landscape and the rug store in Tam Valley will never change. The ability to slow down and not have to worry about your responsibilities, is a very easy thing to do here. I always found time to enjoy this place, but being gone has made me appreciate it more then ever. As I'm writing this quick summary of week one, I decided to listen to Mill Valley by Miss Abrams. "I know that there might come a time I'll have to leave Mill Valley and every memory will seem like make-believe" This line stood out to me, because of how true this statement is. Sounds make believe, but once you've experienced this place up close and personal, it'll be hard to go anywhere else without always thinking back.
12/11/22 Still Overrated.
Avoiding In and Out has been too evident every time I come back tovNorCal. During my drive back home, I decided to run it back for old times and treat myself to a double double and some animal fries. After mobbing the L400 down to Santa Rosa from Humboldt county, I was really tired and actually looking forward to eating at this establishment again. Thirty minuets later and one step closer to high cholesterol I had concluded that In and Out is still mid and not worth my time. The honeymoon phase is over with In and Out, and I think we're strictly just friends now. The days of eating 7 burgers in a row and Neapolitans are over. Farewell friend, till next time. 12/10/22 The World’s Smallest Harbor
A place worth notable mention from my recent trip down the Oregon coast. This marina/bay had me gasping for an explanation after driving past it. Known as the world’s smallest navigable harbor, Depoe Bay is located about an hour south of Tillamook, OR and holds some unique characteristics that I thought would be fun write about. This marina features what looks to be like one of the wildest entrances and exits to an active marina I have ever seen. From the looks of it, the tides and currents have to be right to be able to enter and exit without risk of hitting the rocks. Seeing this harbor made me happy that harbors like Depoe Bay still exist. 12/9/22 Wanna Spoon?
Of course I had to stop at the Tillamook creamery before laying my head to rest the evening of the ninth. I found myself pretty delirious after driving through the pouring rain that evening. I was welcomed into this iconic town by the world renowned dairy company known as the Tillamook County Creamery Association. At some point in everyone’s life you've had Tillamook cheese. This Factory seemed to be a tourist trap, however setup in a way to make you feel like you’re in a mall/museum/supermarket. This feeling made me go around and check out every crevice of the place. I ended up trying some of the food they had to offer which involved lots of cheeses. Speaking to some of the locals in the place, made me realize this spot served the community of Tillamook, OR, rather than just highway 101 passersby’s. This family that had kids ranging from ages 1 through 8 told me this spot was there go to Ice Cream spot every Friday Night. To see such a large company known for creating dairy essentials impact their local community in a positive manner was reassuring. By the end of the night, I had looked back on this experience and wished I had said "Moo" at least once while in the establishment. Shady Lane - Pavement
